Donnie Yen Chi-tan, born on July 27, 1963, in Guangzhou, China, is a world-renowned martial artist, actor, director, and action choreographer. He is best known for his iconic portrayal of Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man in the Ip Man film series, which brought him international recognition and cemented his status as a modern martial arts legend.

Raised in a martial arts family, Yen was introduced to kung fu at a young age by his mother, Bow-sim Mark, a highly respected martial artist. After moving to Boston during his teenage years, he continued his training in various disciplines, including taekwondo, boxing, and wushu.
