Karate Kid: Legends” has been released
Set three years after the events of the “Cobra Kai” series, “Karate Kid: Legends” follows Li Fong, portrayed by Ben Wang, a kung fu prodigy who relocates from Beijing to New York City with his mother after a family tragedy. In his new environment, Li faces challenges adapting to urban life and encounters conflicts with local martial artists. To defend a friend, he enters a citywide karate competition. Recognizing the need for guidance, Li’s mentor, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), seeks assistance from Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), leading to a fusion of kung fu and karate disciplines.
The trailer showcases dynamic martial arts sequences and hints at a deeper connection between Mr. Han and the late Mr. Miyagi. A notable line, “Two branches, one tree,” suggests intertwined legacies. The collaboration between Mr. Han and Daniel aims to prepare Li for the challenges ahead, blending their respective martial arts philosophies.
“Karate Kid: Legends” is scheduled for theatrical release on May 30, 2025.
